DOA: Dead Or Alive

Based on the Tecmo/team ninja fighting game series, Dead or Alive hit the big screens on September 2006. A martial art film directed by Corey Yuen, starring Jaime Presley, Holly Valance, Devon Aoki, Natasha Malthe and Sarah Carter. Before the release of the movie, avid fans and players of the 1996 video game can not longer wait for its release when the movie trailer and sneak previews began to air in cinemas.

In Dead or Alive, four women begins as rivals in an underground invitational martial arts contest and ends up teaming with each other to battle against a sinister force. Tina Armstrong, played by Jamie Presley, is a professional American wrestler who enters the tournament to prove to her critics that she is not a fake. Christie Allen, played by Holly Valance, is a cat-thief and assassin for hire. Kasumi, played by Devon Aoki, is an Asian warrior-aristocrat, schooled by martial arts masters and flees her temple to seek out the truth of her brother's “death”. And Helen Douglas, played by Sarah Carter, is an extreme sports athlete whose tragic past binds her to the remote palace in Southeast Asia where the Dead or Alive tournament takes place. She is competing in her first tournament and hopes to win in honor of her late father's memory.

During September 2006, the film was released and many users debated that the rating of the movie would be R due to the mature rating of the video game and partial nudity through actress Holly Valance as showed in the movie trailer. The film was a box-office bomb after making $ 260,00 in 21 days and grossed $ 480,000 worldwide. The film was somewhat more successful overseas, making over $6,000,000 in the foreign box office, with almost 1 million in both the U.K. and Australia.

The movie made a total of $6,924,930.

The Legend of Zorro

Who will forget about Zorro?! Zorro is the Spanish term for fox, it is a fictional nobleman and master swordsman living in Spanish and Mexican-era California. He defends the people of the land against tyrannical governors and other villains, and is not only much too cunning and foxlike for the bumbling authorities to be caught, but delights in publicly humiliating those same foes.

Zorro often called El-Zorro was created in 1919 by pulp writer Johnston McCulley. The character visual motif is, typically, a black costume with a flowing Spanish cape, a flat-brimmed Andalusian-style hat, more appropriate to a California caballero than the wide sombrero the character wore in the original, and a black cowl mask that covers the top of the head from eye level upwards. (The mask covered his whole face in the original.) In addition, his favoured weapon is a rapier which he often uses to leave his distinctive mark, a large 'Z' made with three quick cuts. He also uses a bullwhip, like the later Indian Jones.

The hot and gorgeous man Antonio Banderas did the role of Zorro ( Don Alejandro de la Vega) and the beautiful and most admired Catherine Zeta-Jones did the role Elena. The story was about the California people who are voting to decide whether to join the United States or not. When Zorro were chasing the Pinkertons, the two of them were accidentally discovered his true identity. Zorro then makes a make-shift mask out of his costume and rides off on his black stallion, Tornado, to deliver the votes to the governor. Upon returning to his mansion, Alejandro is greeted by his loving wife, Elena and tells her they won. Elena believes that Alejandro can now give up being Zorro, but Alejandro is not so sure that the people will no longer need him. Angered, Elena kicks Alejandro out of the house. The following day, Alejandro received a letter from Elena saying that she's filing for divorce. Sometime later, McGivens and his men attack a peasant family, wanting to sell their land, but Zorro arrives to stop him. He succeeds in rescuing the Blanca. One day, McGivens kidnapped Elena and Joaquin, Zorro tried to rescue them but McGivens then captures him. Suddenly, Felipe arrives and helps Alejandro fight McGivens. After all what happened, Felipe remarries Alejandro and Elena with Joaquin as the only witness. Elena then allows Alejandro to continue being Zorro, accepting that it is who he is, and Zorro rides off on Amego into the sunset.

The movie was absolutely fantastic and the graphics was perfect. I'm sure anyone who will watch this movie in a dvd will be well entertained because it wasn't boring, it has a lot of fight scenes and excitement. And the characters played the role well. This movie was indeed worthy! Every house should
have a collection copy of this great movie.
